About The Orient.

The Orient Restaurant is the proud culmination of over two decades of passion and dedication in bringing authentic Chinese cuisine to the heart of Ireland. Our journey began with Liam Zheng, a skilled chef from Fujian, China, who moved to Ireland in 1998 with a dream of sharing the rich flavours of his homeland.

In 2002, Liam Zheng opened his first restaurant, Royal City Chinese Restaurant, in Maynooth, followed by Royal Place Chinese Restaurant in Celbridge in 2003. Both became cherished local dining spots, known for their authentic dishes and welcoming atmosphere.

In 2009, Liam Zheng launched Orient Restaurant in Maynooth, combining traditional Chinese flavours with modern touches to elevate the dining experience.

Always seeking to innovate, Liam Zheng expanded Orient in 2023 to include an Asia Market and sushi bar, offering customers a wider range of Asian culinary delights.This addition allows guests to explore an even broader range of Asian flavours, from fresh sushi to specialty ingredients, bringing a piece of Asia’s culinary diversity to the heart of Maynooth.
